The International Best of Regions Excellence Award was introduced in 2012 as a way to honor exceptional presentations given by members with the ACBSP Annual Conference theme. The 2017 recipient was Dr. Christopher Davis, Harding University, with his presentation From Academia to Industry – Combating Negative Career Effects.
The competition starts at the regional level. Individuals giving presentations, related to the theme of the next Annual Conference, at their regional fall conferences will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The evaluators use a rubric created by the home office in consultation with the Council of Regional Chairs. The individual with the highest collective score will be named the Best of the Region. The presenter(s) will automatically qualify to give their presentation during the concurrent sessions at the next ACBSP Annual Conference.
During the ACBSP Annual Conference, a panel of judges will attend the sessions of the Best of the Region presentations and evaluate them using the same rubric as was used at the regional level. During the Salute to Regions Luncheon on Sunday, one of the Best of the Region presentations will receive the International Best of Regions Excellence Award. The recipient presenter(s) will receive a crystal award as well as a $500 check.
