Commissioner Comment There is no Commissioner note or condition.Criterion 5.3 The business unit does not meet the acceptable ACBSP criteria of 70 percent of the graduate credit hours in business taught by academically qualified faculty. Currently, the graduate AQ coverage is 11.01%. Hiring, training, and managing the allocation of academically qualified faculty, may ensure that appropriate emphasis is placed on business theory and practice to meet the business unit program objectives. In addition, the business unit has an opportunity to present a rationale for the differences (70% expected vs 11% reported), and provide detailed records of student learning outcomes to demonstrate that your faculty composition supports your mission and program objectives. Categories: Results, Improvements Verified: This OFI was verified on site. Institution Comment As of November 2019, the MBA program had 59 faculty members, including the following: 7 AQ, 48 PQ, 4 SP (2 certified in Lego® Serious Play® methodology, who were assigned at the beginning of 2019, but are currently no longer assigned, and 2 international teachers from Strategy Go Workshop). Although at the end of 2019 the program had 11% AQ teachers, this has not been a limitation to show positive results in student learning since, in the competencies assessed, the established goal has been exceeded, as demonstrated in the description of standard 4. The improvement actions that will be implemented begin with prioritizing the assignment of courses to Ph.D. teachers so that the number of credit hours per student is increased. The AQ teacher projection for 2020 shows that 27% of credit hours are assigned to academically qualified teachers (AQ) while 73% of credit hours are assigned to professionally qualified teachers (PQ). It has been analyzed that each 1-credit course assigned to academically qualified teachers contributes 0.5% to the total credit hours of AQ teachers. Likewise, a 2-credit course assigned to academically qualified teachers contributes 1% to the total credit hours of AQ teachers. For this reason, we have considered hiring two or three Ph.D. teachers who may be responsible for anywhere between 8 and 16 assignments (either 2- or 1-credit courses). One assignment corresponds to one course in a class. Teacher Qualification 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 AQ 2 5 5 7 7 11 14 17 20 PQ 17 37 49 48 23 21 19 16 13 SP 8 11 7 4 0 0 0 0 0 6% 9% 8% 11% 27% 35% 40% 45% 50% The projection, as of this year, considers 27% of credit hours assigned to AQ teachers. With the above-mentioned actions, sustained growth is expected over the years, until reaching 50% by the end of 2024. Another improvement action includes identifying teachers who are currently pursuing Ph.D. programs in order to have a clear picture of when they will graduate and prioritize them in the programming. An additional improvement action is to offer a Ph.D. program that is exclusive for teachers at the School. EPG is working with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena to establish a Doctoral Studies Agreement to provide teachers with the opportunity to pursue the Ph.D. program and earn the degree. From 2019, UTP promoted the research area. In 2020, it reinforced its publication incentive program. In addition, EPGUTP is developing a plan to train teachers in research activities, as well as to increase the number of teachers with a researcher's record for Concytec (CTI Vitae). With this strategy and the Ph.D. program, the number of Ph.D. teachers is expected to continue to increase progressively. Also, research activities and publications are expected to increase. Commissioner Condition Condition on Standard 5, Criterion 5.3. UTP is making an effort to reach the standard of the credit hours in business taught by academically qualified (AQ) faculty. Reaching the goal of having a faculty that includes sufficient academic credentials will assist the business program’s ability to fulfill its mission. The Commission looks forward to reviewing the progress with this Criteria in your QA report. Criterion 5.8 The business unit has the opportunity to increase the full-time and part-time faculty participation in the development of research activities and publications, as well as in academic and professional activities that support the fulfillment of the institutional mission. Categories: Results, Improvements Verified: This OFI was verified on site. Institution Comment The School's research unit works in line with the university's processes. EPG has a research teacher who, as of 2020, works with the university's training plan to strengthen the School's research lines. Work is being conducted with the University's central research area in the formulation of the Procedures Manual for the Research Ethics Committee and the Procedures Manual for the presentation of research projects. At a budgetary level, the amount allocated to research has been increased from US$ 180,000 to US$ 1,700,000 for 2020. This increase is the result of the University's focus on promoting research in various sectors at a national level. In addition to existing publishing incentives for Scopus and Scielo, new concepts have been added, such as Book Publications, Chapters, Editorial Products, Reports, and Cases, with the objective of promoting, in addition to scientific research articles, those related to the business world. . In 2019, 72 EPG teachers (46% of the faculty) had a CTI Vitae record. In February 2020, an exclusive teacher training was held at the EPGUTP in order for teachers to know the process, pass the evaluations and be qualified to obtain their CTI Vitae. This training was attended by 25 teachers, which increased the number of teachers trained for research projects. On the other hand, a Teacher Training Plan has been designed regarding relevant aspects for the execution of research projects (for example, training for publication in indexed journals), in order to promote research among teachers.
