Basis for the decision/program commentsStandard 1· There is support and respect from the students, faculty and administration for the Dean of the Business School.· There is evidence the Business School has systematically approached strategic direction and performance expectations.· The issue of social responsibility is important to the Business School following the culture of the University.Standard 2· Objectives, Goals, and Action Plans are clearly stated and understood.· There is engagement and conversation about the future with several groups of stakeholders.Standard 3· There are processes in place to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.· The student and stakeholder groups feel they have been heard by the Business School.· The Business School has identified and uses multiple resources to access and respond to stakeholders.Standard 4· Clear and appropriate outcomes are evident.· There is significant measurement of data.· Involvement from the entire faculty in the work of the Business School is evident.· There is a deep culture of care and action in response to student course evaluations.Standard 5· It is evident the Business School has a faculty that is highly regarded by students and is deeply committed to students.· Students LOVE the faculty—the faculty members truly care about the students and the quality of their learning.· There is good momentum on scholarship and professional activity.Standard 6· The design and introduction of educational programs and offerings is clearly laid out.· There is evidence the curriculum emphasizes the development of problem solving skills, active learning, and the development of intellectual curiosity.· The enrollment processes are well established and documented for recruiting, admitting, and retaining students.2. The most significant opportunities for improvement are:Standard 1· Adding to the self-evaluation of the Dean could provide opportunities for peers, subordinates, and superiors to engage in and provide encouragement for the activities of the Business School.· Long term efficiencies could be provided by adding a committee structure to some tasks in the Business School (i.e. Assessment or Curriculum).· An opportunity exists to develop a systematic process to track success in the area of social responsibility.Standard 2· A traditional Strategic Plan is missing from documentation. Parts of a plan can be found in various parts of the self study.· The strategy could be enhanced by providing assignments for the responsibility for the action plans that are shown in the self study.· Long term goals could be reached by the addition of a Human Resource Plan in the self study as a part of the Strategic Plan.· The Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship, while not considered for accreditation, could be included in any plans because of the opportunity it provides.Standard 3· The use of nationally normed, externally validated, standardized student evaluations would provide valuable data to the Business School.· The establishment of regularly scheduled meetings might aid efficiency with some stakeholder groups that have recently formalized relationships with the Business School.· The stakeholder focus envisioned might be enhanced by intentionally designed opportunities to bring together various learning communities served by the Business School.Standard 4· Using a jury of faculty to assess signature assignments in individual courses would improve internal validity.· Adding external assessment to LEAP and MBA, and utilizing business professionals to evaluate signature assignments in individual courses, would improve external validity and program comparisons.· Using multiple sources of data collection would improve assessment measurement and interpretation for critical outcomes.· Interpreting and using the results of program assessment data (not just student evaluations of courses) would improve and guide curricular change and program direction.Standard 5· Additional faculty hires focused on doctorates in specific business disciplines would strengthen the academic quality of the Business School.· A philosophy of recruiting to balance local and national hiring of new faculty would strengthen the quality of the faculty.· A university plan to improve the mean/median faculty salaries compared to CCCU faculty would assist national faculty recruiting efforts.· University expectation and support for all faculty members to participate in regular professional development activities involving external organizations would systematize faculty development efforts.Standard 6· There is a significant reduction in hours required for LEAP students that could be validated by the addition of consistent normed data.· The process and access to services has been established. It might be appropriate to develop and implement a design for services to provide for a larger community to be served.· Specialized attention might be given to enrollment management by the addition of staff to provide an expanded opportunity for growth.
