Top Business School in Europe Formed Partnership with Local College:
The Partnership Between Jesselton College and European University
KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA–(Marketwired – Feb. 18, 2014) -
The renowned education and training dedicated
business group Jesselton College partners with European University to
offer Malaysians with a new accredited Bachelor of Business
Administration program focused on teaching students how to succeed in
today’s business world.
The origins of Jesselton College
date back to 1988 where it was then known as the Sabah Institute of
Management (SIM). The SIM was later consecutively renamed in 1999 as
Institut Prima Bestari (IPB) and in 2008 as IPB; to finally hold the
name of Jesselton College as part of the initiatives to commemorate and
embrace an identity closer to home to the Sabahans. In the span of a few
years, Jesselton College continuously explored affiliation
opportunities with other world-class universities in order to offer
students the unique possibility of obtaining degrees from institutions
of higher education around the world. On another note, Jesselton College
has recently been given the rights to admit International Students by
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also given the opportunity for
their students to apply for PTPTN loan.
The latest addition to these academic partnerships
includes the ACBSP/IACBE/CEEMAN accredited, multicampus, international
business school European University.
The partnership between Jesselton College and European University was
made possible by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) twinning or
"3+0″ program allowing students to complete a Bachelor’s degree awarded
by foreign partner universities at Malaysian institutions. The main idea
behind this program is to allow substantially decreasing study costs
and encouraging higher education. Under this program, students register
for both the Malaysian institutions and partner universities; follow the
same syllabus, are subject to the same method of assessment and finally
obtain the same qualifications as students in the partner universities
overseas.
"The Kota Kinabalu City Hall is pleased with the
successful collaboration between Jesselton College and European
University and recognizes the accreditation granted by the Malaysian
Qualification Agency (MQA). Malaysian colleges offering BBA programs in
collaboration with recognized and accredited international private
universities such as EU undeniably show the success of the
implementation of the governmental programs.” declared Datuk Dr. Yeo
Boon Hai, Director-General of Kota Kinabalu City Hall.
The Jesselton College is honored to count European
University among its partners and thus be able to propose a new
accredited Bachelor of Business Administration program to its students
composed of small, dynamic classes offered in English within an
international environment compiling the best of both North American and
European academic curricula. As explains Jesselton College’s Chief
Executive, Prof. Dr. Fred Y F Chin: "Not all our local students have the
opportunity to move to Europe to complete a higher education in
institutions that offer cutting-edge teaching as European University.”
For that reason, the partnership with European
university is imperative for Jesselton College and provides its students
with a wide range of opportunities to join and become exposed to
western business theories, but not neglecting local cultures, while
giving western students the opportunity to come to Malaysia and expand
their horizons. http://news.money.ca/2014/02/18/top-business-school-in-europe-formed-partnership-with-local-college-the-partnership-between-jesselton-college-and-european-university/
