UTICA, N.Y. -- It's been an exciting year for Utica College. Along with a 42 percent tuition reduction, the school inaugurated a new president, and opened up a new business education center in downtown Utica.

While students have been attending classes in the new building since late August, Thursday night the school officially dedicated it to Robert Brvenik.

People gathered at the Clark City Center in downtown Utica to officially dedicate the building to Robert Brvenik.

Brvenik has numerous local ties. He is a Trustee and major benefactor of Utica College. He went to Notre Dame High School and his father was a former sports anchor for WKTV.

The center contains state-of-the-art equipment and offers programs in risk management, health studies management, economics, business administration and more.

I spoke with the interim dean of School of Business and Justice Studies, Rick Fenner, who said the location is a perfect fit for the college.

"The city of Utica is being reinvigorated and for Utica College to be able to bring its students down here giving them the opportunity to locate in the center of the business district. To have more interaction with business leaders, I think is extraordinary. A lot of large universities have moved their business schools downtown. I think for a school of our size this is really extraordinary."

New president, Laura Casamento, was in attendance, along with others helped celebrate the new Robert Brvenik Center for Business Education.

Utica College is a candidate for ACBSP accreditation of its business programs. Learn more about the Utica College School of Business at
