Cameron University’s Gregory W. Treadwell earns credential as Certified Fraud Examiner

Cameron University’s Gregory W. Treadwell, an accounting instructor in the School of Business, has been awarded the Certified Fraud Examiner credential by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In earning the certification, Treadwell met a stringent set of criteria and passed a rigorous examination in which he demonstrated his knowledge of four areas critical to the fight against fraud: Fraudulent Financial Transactions, Fraud Prevention and Deterrence, Legal Elements of Fraud and Fraud Investigation.
“For the past five years, Mr. Treadwell has taught a course in fraud examination,” says Dean John Camey, Cameron University School of Business. “The success and popularity of that class, along with his dedication to providing the highest possible level of instruction to Cameron students, motivated him to obtain this highly sought-after certification. His expertise in so many facets of accounting is a tremendous resource to our students.”
As a CFE, Treadwell has the ability to examine data and records to detect and trace fraudulent transactions; interview suspects to obtain information and confessions; write investigative reports; advise clients as to their findings; testify at trial; understand the law as it relates to fraud and fraud investigations; and identify the underlying factors that motivate individuals to commit fraud.
A resident of Snyder, Treadwell joined the Cameron faculty as an adjunct instructor in 1994 and became a full-time faculty member in 2003. The CFE is his fifth professional certification. He is also an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), as well as holding certifications from the Institute of Management Accountants: Certified Financial Manager (CFM) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
