Collaboration Between ACBSP and Okan University Aims to Raise Awareness of Business Accreditation in Turkey

This agreement provides for Okan University to conduct activities to create awareness of ACBSP among universities in Turkey during the first year with plans to expand that awareness to universities in surrounding countries in subsequent years.

OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA (March 4, 2014) Dr. Enar Tunc, Vice Rector-Management, at the Tuzla Campus of Okan University (pictured center) signed the Memorandum of Agreement, along with Charles Beem, President of ACBSP (left) and Douglas Viehland, Executive Director of ACBSP, at a meeting held during the ACBSP International Conference in Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Sule Kut, Okan University Rector, not pictured, also signed the Memorandum of Agreement.

Accreditation awareness seminars are planned to create initial interest and introduce the concept of specialized business accreditation to universities in Turkey. More specific workshops will follow that address ACBSP accreditation processes. “As more experience is acquired, representatives from Okan University will be our local partner authority in Turkey, serving both as mentor and as supervisor for other institutions of higher learning in their study and bid for accreditation through ACBSP,” said Viehland.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), is the only global accrediting body to accredit business, accounting, and business-related programs at all degree levels.
