OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA (August 14, 2013) Charles Beem, faculty member and Area Coordinator of Management/Marketing at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Penn., assumes the office of president of the Board of Directors for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the only global accrediting body to accredit business, accounting, and business-related programs at all degree levels. The announcement was made at the ACBSP Annual Conference held June 21-24 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He began his one-year term at the conclusion of that conference.

Beem has been an active member of ACBSP for more than 14 years. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, he serves as chair of the Personnel Committee, board liaison to the Strategic Planning Committee, and co-chair of the Annual Conference Committee. He has served as chair of the Associate Degree Board of Commissioners; secretary and president-elect of the Board of Directors; secretary, president-elect, and president of the Eastern Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP Region 2); and member of the Marketing Committee. Beem has also been a site evaluation team member for schools seeking ACBSP accreditation and reaffirmation.

"Charles is a valued leader of ACBSP, serving in many ways to promote our vision of accrediting all quality business programs worldwide,” said Douglas Viehland, ACBSP executive director. "He has been instrumental in our effort to increase awareness and communicate the value of ACBSP accreditation among associate degree schools,” he said.

"It is truly historic that ACBSP is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, when we can honor those who have proudly served in leadership positions. It is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to the mission and core values that have contributed to the success of ACBSP.” "Worthy goals to mark this special year include: Increasing ACBSP membership of associate degree-granting institutions, the development of an ‘ACBSP Brand Ambassadorship’ program, and the full deployment of the technology that will create an engaged ‘community’ of enthusiastic ACBSP members.” said Beem.
