OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA (December 14, 2011) — The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP),, has granted initial accreditation or reaffirmation of accreditation to 21 colleges and universities in seven countries this fall.

The ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners and Associate Degree Board of Commissioners meet twice a year in Kansas City, MO, USA, to review the quality and integrity of business degree programs at colleges and universities seeking ACBSP accreditation.

In November, the two Boards granted initial accreditation to the business programs at: Des Moines Area Community College (Iowa), Immaculata University (PA), International Business School (HU), Lincoln Memorial University (TN), Northern Arizona University (AZ), Regional College of Management (India), Riverland Community College (MN), Texas Woman’s University (TX), Universidad Alta Direccion-ADEN Business School (three campuses in Argentina, El Salvador and Panama), University of Saint Francis (IN), and West Georgia Technical College (GA).

Colleges and universities initially accredited by ACBSP must undergo a process of reaffirmation every 10 years in order to maintain accredited status. The two Boards granted reaffirmation of accreditation to: Bluefield State College (WV), Great Bay Community College (NH), Horry-Georgetown Technical College (SC), Lipscomb University (TN), Nashville State Community College (TN), Northern Maine Community College (ME), Paine College (GA), Texas Lutheran University (TX), Trident Technical College (SC), and University of Indianapolis (two campuses in Indiana and Greece).

In addition to successfully completing the accreditation or reaffirmation process, three schools also achieved separate accreditation of the accounting degree program. Lipscomb University, Texas Lutheran University and Immaculata University were awarded this distinction, bringing the total to four schools that hold separate accreditation in accounting. LaGrange College was the first to achieve separate accounting accreditation from ACBSP in 2010.

"These campuses have shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process. The initial accreditation and reaffirmation of accreditation granted to these institutions shows their commitment to provide the highest quality business education for their students," said Steve Parscale, ACBSP director of accreditation."

ACBSP accredits all business programs at all degree levels, from associate degrees in accounting and other business disciplines to doctorate degrees in management.

ACBSP’s mission is to promote continuous improvement and recognize excellence in the accreditation of business education programs around the world. ACBSP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as a specialized accreditation agency for business education. ACBSP currently has 1,051 member campuses, 157 of which are located outside of the U.S. Of those campuses, 541 have achieved accreditation and more than 415 are in candidacy for accreditation. Individual members on these campuses now exceed 9,500.
