Pre-Conference Workshops

Pre-Conference Workshops

Explore Your Family History
While ACBSP celebrates its history and kicks off its 25th Anniversary at this conference, attendees can research their own family histories at the genealogy capital of the world. Salt Lake City is home to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and its world-renowned Family History Library.

A Pre-conference Workshop, entitled "Exploring Your Family History” will be offered twice - once on Thursday afternoon and again on Friday morning, giving attendees access to a genealocical library that is the largest of its kind in the world.

For those attending the Accreditation Conference or the Mentor and Evaluator Training, we invite you to arrive on Thursday for the Thursday afternoon session. For those attending the Annual Conference, we invite your participation in this workshop on Friday morning.

The workshop will be conducted in the Family History Library located across the street from the Marriott. Staff at the Library will lead you on a tour of the resources available and explain how you can best use them to search your family history. You can return at other times during the Conference, following the Conference, or from home to continue your search.

Celebrate your family history as we celebrate the history of the ACBSP family. Each workshop is limited to 60 individuals. Registration is available to anyone already registered for the ACBSP Annual Conference for a fee of $75.

The ABC’s of Writing Effective Student Learning Outcomes
What would happen if you were asked to write a student learning outcome (SLO)? Would you be overwhelmed and have no idea how to start? This presentation provides a step-by-step approach to writing program-level and course-level SLOs and demonstrates how to integrate Bloom's taxonomy into your outcomes. Attendees are asked to bring a copy of their program level outcomes. Numerous forms and examples will be presented and an exercise in writing course-level outcomes will be deployed during the session. Attendees will receive handouts of the PowerPoint presentation as well as a resource guide for writing effective SLOs.
Attendees will be able to:

  • Differentiate between program-level and course-level outcomes.
  • Integrate the appropriate level of Bloom’s taxonomy into outcomes.
  • Develop a course-level outcome related to a program-level outcome.

This workshop is limited to 100 participants. Registration is available to anyone already registered for the ACBSP Annual Conference for a fee of $75.

The SLC School Tour:
NEW this year our host schools in Salt Lake City invite attendees to arrive early or stay late and to explore their campus, meet campus representatives, and about how they deliver business education to students and adult learners. A bus will provide transportation as you visit three schools and enjoy lunch on one of the campuses. The identical program is offered on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and again on Monday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. A fee of $50 provides transportation and lunch.
