Call for Nominations - Region 3 Secretary

The Region 3 Nominating Committee is now accepting applications from Region 3 members who are interested in the Secretary position. The Secretary position is a three year commitment. After year one (2017-2018), the Secretary will serve as Chair-elect for 2018-2019, and then Chair of Region 3 for 2019-2020. It will be the Chair’s responsibility to plan and implement a productive and informative Region 3 Fall Conference.

Based on the recommendation in the Regional Council Handbook (2017) and past practices of Region 3, "the office of Chair should alternate between Associate Degree schools and Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree schools;" therefore, the nominee for 2017 Secretary position should be from a 2-year institution. However, if there are no volunteers, it can be filled by a 4-year school. According to the ACBSP bylaws, the terms of office begin July 1 and end June 30.

Candidates will be presented by the Nominating Committee during the annual regional meeting on Saturday, June 24th in Anaheim, CA (during ACBSP Conference 2017). Nominations will not be accepted from the floor. Each candidate will be given 3-minutes to introduce him/herself and make brief comments regarding qualifications and desire to serve.

The Region has adopted a policy of vetting all candidates. It’s required that you have the full support of your institution to serve as a Region 3 Officer. An Officer Interest Questionnaire must be completed by anyone who is interested in serving as a Region 3 Officer. You may self-nominate or you may nominate someone. If you nominate someone, please ensure the individual has the support of his/her institution. If you are interested, please complete the form and email it to Dr. Aliquippa Allen ( by June 15, so the Nominating Committee will have adequate time to vet each candidate.

International Conference on Environmentally Sustainable Entrepreneurship

Panel proposals and paper abstracts are invited on all aspects of environmentally sustainable entrepreneurship. Undergraduates and graduate students are encouraged to submit papers. Abstracts are limited to a maximum of 250 words. Brief bios of 175 words are required. Electronic submissions are requested. Presentations should be limited to 20 minutes. Sessions are limited to three (3) presenters per session. Papers and panels are solicited on:

·      Emerging markets and Eco-friendly entrepreneurship

·      Microenterprise development

·      Artisans’ guilds

·      Microbusiness development among marginalized groups

Faculty Development in International Business - CIBER Consortium at Georgia State University - June 4-7, 2015

Georgia State University’s Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) is pleased to announce the 2015 Faculty Development in International Business - Globalization Workshops, to be held June 4-7, 2015 at GSU’s Buckhead Center, a state-of-the-art conference facility located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Held since 1992 by a consortium of CIBERs (Centers of Excellence designated by the U.S. Department of Education), Globalization Workshops have trained over 1,000 faculty from around the U.S. and other countries. The workshops are designed to help business faculty bring international context into the classroom and expand their classroom knowledge and skills. The five two-day workshops offered are:

  • Introduction to International Business
  • International Management
  • International Financial Management
  • Global Supply Chain Management
  • International Marketing

Each of these workshops is taught by world-class educators in international business.  They incorporate content, pedagogy, and resources for teaching the respective courses. They are also designed to facilitate open dialogue among educators who share teaching interests.

In addition, participants have the opportunity to select from one or more of three-hour bonus sessions on:

  • Research in international business
  • Teaching pedagogy
  • Case writing for international business
  • Tools for Cultural Learning in Study Abroad (incorporating the Cultural Analysis Toolkit)
