In 2012, the ACBSP Student Showcase pilot program was launched at the ACBSP Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Each year, one student presentation will be selected to represent their school and region and present at the ACBSP Annual Conference. During the first year the showcase presentation was by students from Lee University representing Region 3. Lenoir-Rhyne University students were the presenters during the 2013 Annual Conference, also from Region 3. See a video of their presentation below.
If a region elects to participate, it will make a Call for Student Presentations as part of its annual regional conference each fall. An example of the template for Call for Presentations used during fall meetings in 2015 for presentation at ACBSP Conference 2016 is available for preview. The region has the option to refer to the Student Showcase as a contest with the name “ACBSP’s Got Talent!.” Each region may determine its own process for selecting the student presentation that will represent the region. The Annual Conference Committee will then evaluate the regional finalists and select one to present at the ACBSP Student Showcase during the annual ACBSP Conference.
A scoring rubric is also provided to assist both students and evaluators.
This is an excellent professional development opportunity for students at all levels of higher business education, and a valuable addition to a résumé.
