We have NEW DETAILS about the inaugural International Conference November 27 – December 1 in Brussels, Belgium. The International Conference website has complete details, including a link to our convenient online registration, and information on conference fees, hotel reservations, and keynote speaker bios. This is a conference you won’t want to miss!
NEW: Second Keynote Speaker Confirmed
In addition to Jonathan Hill as our keynote speaker for Thursday, we are pleased to announce the closing day of the Conference on Saturday will be keynoted by Joost van Iersel. Mr. Iersel is a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). His remarks will focus on his experience as the EESC expert on universities and the work underway by Europe 2020. Europe 2020 is the EU's growth strategy for the coming decade. For more information on Mr. Iresel and all speakers, please go to the Web page for conference speakers.
UPDATED: Conference Sessions Confirmed
We now have exact titles and brief descriptions of the content for each of the concurrent sessions to be offered during the conference. Please go to the link of the Tentative Schedule to see an overview of events and Detailed Schedule to review specific content being presented.
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Hotel Group Rate
Brussels Marriott is the headquarters hotel for the ACBSP Inaugural International Conference. Room rates are €189 for a single or €209 for a double room. This rate includes VAT charges and a breakfast buffet for each person. The cut off for these rates has been extended to October 19. Even if you cannot confirm your conference attendance at this time, make your hotel reservation now, as it can be used or cancelled at a later date.
NEW: Global Partnership Award
A key feature of the International Conference is assisting ACBSP members with finding partners to advance their global education opportunities. We will celebrate this work by launching a new award. The Global Partnership Award honors two member schools that have successfully collaborated in ways that benefit students, faculty, the community, and the business school. During this first year we will honor the University of Indianapolis—Athens Campus and Yanbu Industrial College. The most important distinction about this award is a presentation during the Conference of how each of the two members have collaborated to create value. The session will be on Friday afternoon.
NEW: Find Your Reason To Be There
Douglas Viehland, Executive Director, has provided his comments on how ACBSP members can find their reason to be in Brussels. His Report of the Executive Director appears in Fall issue of ACBSP Update. It is provided here for your immediate review and action.
SUBSTITUTED: Group Tour on December 1
For a variety of reasons, the group tour has been cancelled. However, the same tour is now offered at a lower rate as part of a regular tour. More information is listed on the Web page for Tour Brussels. All attendees going on the tour will meet in the lobby and join the regular tour as a group.
ADDED: Roundtable Discussion
Instead of the Group Tour on Sunday morning we offer a new networking opportunity. Douglas Viehland, ACBSP Executive Director, and officers from Region 8 will host roundtable discussions during the breakfast hour in the restaurant at the hotel. This will be your time to join others who attended the conference to share your thoughts on what we did well during the Conference in its inaugural year and what we can do to create a better conference in Athens for 2014.
