TO: ACBSP Members
We are approaching the end of another calendar year, which for many also marks the end of an academic year, semester, or quarter. As you prepare to go on break, we are providing five action items for you to consider. All five enable you to take full advantage of your ACBSP membership.
December 15 is the deadline for you to participate in the ACBSP Salary Survey. It is estimated you can complete this simple survey in less than three minutes. A free Executive Summary will be made available after January 15, 2014, available for download by members only and posted on our Salary Survey Web page. You can go to that page now to download information from the 2012-2013 Salary Survey, including the Executive Summary and how to order the complete data set from last year.
Are You Involved in Supporting Your Business Advisory Council?
If you are, we need your assistance. The Business Industry Relations Committee is preparing a Resource Kit focused on best and suggested practices of operations of a BAC, which may also have other names on your campus such as Business Advisory Board. ACBSP is collecting samples of agendas, bylaws, operating procedures, Web pages, orientation presentations, sample invitation letters, reward and recognition processes, and any other items you use in the operation of the BAC on your campus. You will be contacted by a member of the Committee before anything is published to ensure your identity is protected if that is desired and to get your permission to publish. The Kit will be released in June at the ACBSP Annual Conference during a concurrent session and available for download for members only after July 15, 2014. The deadline to submit these materials is January 31, 2014. Please submit to firstname.lastname@example.org with the Subject of “Business Advisory Council Request.”
Teaching Excellence Award
In recognition of teaching excellence, faculty members may apply for the ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award. Being named a recipient at the regional or international level is a valued addition to your résumé, and provides recognition for your business school. Just going through the process of documenting your achievements can be considered similar to the accreditation process and a valued personal and professional self-evaluation exercise. The award is presented at the ACBSP Annual Conference. The application deadline is January 31, 2014. Make this an action item during your break.
Call For Presentations—ACBSP Annual Conference
We invite you to share how you sustain and advance excellence inside and outside the classroom utilizing digital solutions by responding to the Call for Presentations for the 2014 Annual Conference. The deadline for submittal is January 31, 2014. We invite you to visit the conference website now and later. By January 8 all information will be available including links for online registration and hotel reservations at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.
Best Business Books
Our first issue of Business Education Week in the new calendar year focuses on the best business books of the previous year as identified by a number of sources. This year we invite your participation. What was the best book(s) of 2013 focused on business practices or business personalities in your opinion? Please submit your comments to Melinda Dorning, Editor, Business Education Week, email@example.com by December 30, and include “Best Business Books” as the subject.
