Student Leadership Award

ACBSP is the only accrediting body for business schools that recognizes teaching excellence by granting an annual award to faculty. The Teaching Excellence Award is given to two persons from each ACBSP region, a total of sixteen awards. Two persons are selected—one from an associate degree institution and one from a baccalaureate/graduate degree institution—and designated as recipients of the International Teaching Excellence Award.

ACBSP has created a program that recognizes student leadership. The ACBSP Student Leadership Award is given on each campus that chooses to endorse this activity. The criteria for the award is not determined by ACBSP, but is determined by the individual campus. The only criteria are that the student must be pursuing a degree in business. In some cases, the campus may wish to give more than one award but this is not encouraged.

Some possible uses of the award include:

• Present annually to the student leader of a student chapter on campus in competition with all other chapters to recognize their leadership year.  Examples of student chapters include Students in Free Enterprise, Delta Epsilon Chi–DECA, or Phi Beta Lamba--FBLA or a business honor society such as, Delta Mu Delta, Sigma Beta Delta, or Kappa Beta Delta.
• Present to a student using criteria developed by faculty or students or by the head of the business unit.
• Selection is made solely by head of the business unit based on recommendations of others and his or her personal experience.
  

Once presented, the student may use this recognition on a resume and be honored at a graduation or honor awards assembly. The availability of a perpetual plaque in the wall of the business school adds value for the student long after departure from the college and is visible evidence to all visitors that the business unit supports leadership within the student body.

ACBSP provides access to a plaque that is given to the student and a larger perpetual plaque that remains on the wall of the business school with the name of each recipient each year. The cost to design and develop the plaques has been incurred by ACBSP and we have secured bulk pricing. Each business unit deciding to participate in this program orders directly from our supplier, Imagecraft. An order form is obtained by using of of the two links below. This includes three lines of personalization for the individual plaque and an engraved plate for the perpetual plaque each year to replace the blank one. Notification of your participation to ACBSP is suggested, but not required.
