ACBSP Committees

ACBSP Committees provide an opportunity for members to participate in the governance of ACBSP and for ideas for implementation to have the input of a number of persons before being considered for a final decision.

The operation of ACBSP committees is implemented by policies and procedures adopted by the ACBSP Board of Directors. Members of ACBSP are invited to join a committee of personal or professional interest. In fulfilling their obligations as committee members, persons generally must agree to:

  • participate in up to two conference calls annually (one in November and the other in early April) and one in-person meeting at the conference;
  • be willing to take on responsibilities as assigned during meeting and fulfill these obligations in a timely matter;
  • in some cases, be willing to attend regional meetings to make a report and/or serve on a regional committee focused on the same subject area.

Committees—Member Services Five of the current committees provide guidance and action on issues important to member services. Appointment of individuals to all member services committees is by the President of the Council typically upon nomination by the regional officers. The term is three years with one opportunity for reappointment. The composition is intended to be balanced geographically and with regard to the type of institution. The number of members on a committee is not less than nine, and not more than fifteen.
