International Council (Region 8)

The International Council of Business Schools and Programs is a regional division of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs representing member institutions located outside the United States not otherwise designated to another region. The mission of the ACBSP is to establish, promote and recognize educational standards that contribute to the continuous improvement of business education and, through the process of accreditation, to recognize business schools and programs that adhere to these standards.

The ten regional councils of ACBSP have been established to promote the goals and objectives of the national Council at the local level.

The Objectives of the International Council of Business Schools and Programs, Region 8 include:

To provide a regional forum to foster a better understanding of business education and for the exchange of ideas concerning collegiate business education programs, curriculum, and articulation among member institutions.
To assist Region 8 member institutions in their efforts to improve their professional business schools and programs and to assist them in their efforts to attain accreditation.
To provide ACBSP's Board of Directors with ideas and recommendations as to how the Council can better serve its membership.
To work with the ACBSP Board of Directors, Executive Director and Staff to achieve the goals and objectives of ACBSP.
To provide opportunity to focus on membership expansion and related services.

International Council of Business Schools and Programs Annual Conference Proceedings

The International Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP Region 8), annually publishes their Conference Proceedings consisting of papers and presentations from each of their annual conferences. The first year for publication of the Conference proceedings was 2009. Please use the links below to download the proceedings.

2009 Annual Conference, November 26-29, Paris, France. The theme of the Conference was “Recognizing Excellence in Business Education.” The 619-page proceedings is available for download at http://www.acbsp.org/download.php?sid=2033. 2010 Annual Conference, November 25-28, Vienna, Austria. The theme of the Conference was “Managing Effectively in the New Fiscal Reality.” The 680-page proceedings is available for download at http://www.acbsp.org/download.php?sid=2034. 2011 Annual Conference, November 24-27, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With the expansion of our activities, the membership of ACBSP Region 8 acted during our meetings in November to approve the retention of an Editor to conduct the Call for Papers and review process leading to publication of our Annual Conference Proceedings Journal. I am honored to have been selected as Editor, and to send this first communication to our membership in that capacity.

Call for Papers -- ACBSP International Conference/ACBSP Region 8 Annual Conference
Later this year, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs will launch a new forum for members to gather. The ACBSP International Conference is a companion to the ACBSP Annual Conference. During the next three years it will also be the location for the business meeting and a networking opportunity for members for the International Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP Region 8). We will not have a separate annual regional conference, but will integrate our activities into the International Conference program.

With this message I am pleased to announce the Call for Papers for presentations for this Conference. Engaged Learning in the Digital Age is the theme of the 2014 ACBSP Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois and is also the theme of this Call for Papers. As was done in previous years, we will produce a scholarly publication of all papers accepted using a double blind peer review process. You can see conference proceedings from previous years on the website of the International Council of Business Schools and Programs. I invite you to act now to consider how you will make a scholarly contribution to this next issue and present your paper at the first annual ACBSP International Conference.

Upcoming Region 8 Meeting -- June 21, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
As a reminder, the next meeting of members from ACBSP Region 8 will be during the ACBSP 2013 Annual Conference in Salt Lake City. If you have not already done so, please register and make your travels plans to be there for all the wonderful events the Conference has planned. New this year, you may register for the General Conference, the specialized Accreditation Conference, or both to obtain maximum value.

I hope you will join us in Salt Lake City to extend personal congratulations to the two recipients of the Teaching Excellence Award from ACBSP Region 8. The associate-degree institution recipient is Damodharan Varadarajan of Higher Colleges of Technology-Dubai Women's College, United Arab Emirates and the baccalaureate/graduate-degree institution recipient is Enkhjin Dulamjav, of Zokhiomj University, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Dr. Damodharan and Mrs. Enkhjin will represent Region 8 as candidates for the 2013 International Teaching Excellence Award, to be announced at the Conference.
