Events
All events are open to both members and non-members alike (unless otherwise specified). Use the menu to the right to explore the various events we offer or have offered in the past. Concurrent sessions presentations from past years require a Gateway account to download and view.
The annual conference, held in the summer, is the largest event of the year. The four-day long conference includes several tracks of concurrent educational and leadership-based sessions. Teaching Excellence Award winners are recognized and institutions that have achieved initial accreditation or reaffirmation of accreditation in the past year are honored. Individual members from higher educational institutions come together to learn about the latest methods of business education and network with colleagues from around the world.
Regional conferences are hosted by each of the ten regions. Regional conferences may provide involvement in business education issues important to your area. Like the annual conference, concurrent educational sessions are usually held. A business meeting is called to discuss bylaws, plans for the next meeting, and election of regional officers, among other things. Each region hosts a conference twice a year -- once during the annual conference and again in the months of September through January -- that provide networking and educational opportunities and keep members current with news and affairs within the Council. Conferences are open to all ACBSP members and non-members, regardless of region affiliation.
The Seminar Series consists of short (one to two-day) workshops on topics suggested by the membership. These are presented at several different locations at different times to allow those who are interested more flexibility in attendance. For example, the 2010 Seminar Series topic, Guiding Principles of ACBSP Accreditation and Assessment of Student Learning, focuses on Standard 4 - Measurement and Analysis of Student Learning and Performance of the ACBSP Standards and Criteria.
A new event in 2012 is the ACBSP Leadership Institute. Geared towards current and prospective deans and program chairs, the workshop focuses on topics such as building a shared vision and support for the chair or dean's core agenda, establishing one's "own style" of leadership, and succession planning and preparation for leadership, amongst many others. The workshop also provides long-term networking opportunities so participants can help each other hone their leadership skill and abilities.
