Palm Beach State College's bachelor of applied science degree in supervision and management is now accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Students, who attend the Lake Worth campus or online, choose to concentrate in general management, entrepreneurship, health management or project management, all of which meet the educational standards required for accreditation by the council.

"Palm Beach State College has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process," chief accreditation officer Steve Parscale said in a statement. "This accreditation is evidence that Palm Beach State College is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students."

The programs received accreditation through a more than three-year submission process, which was led by C. Thomas Capers, professor and department chairman for the supervision and management degree.

"The three-year accreditation process benefits not only our students, but also the organization, as it creates greater visibility to the college," he said. "It reinforces our continuous commitment to improvement, innovation and scholarship, helps us enhance the quality of learning and renews our commitment to our educational mission."

Launched in 2009, the degree typically requires an associate degree to enroll and takes two years to complete. The school estimates 1,539 students are pursuing the degree.

"ACBSP's student-centered teaching and learning approach, which is measured and analyzed for quality, ensures that our students gain the right skills from their educational investment," Don Gladney, associate dean for the bachelor of applied science programs, said in a statement.

"By becoming ACBSP accredited, we are committing to continuous improvement that ensures our supervision and management graduates will have the skills employers want."

College administrators will be presented with the Certificate of Accreditation at the 2017 ACBSP Conference in Anaheim, Calif. on June 26. Florida's only other ACBSP-accredited public institutions are Florida A&M University and Florida State College in Jacksonville.

Palm Beach State College is at 4200 S. Congress Ave. in Lake Worth.
