ACBSP Will Have 12 Teams Competing in the 2013 Global Management Challenge USA

For the second year, The Global Management Challenge brings its strategic management simulation competition to the U.S. — ACBSP will have 12 teams compete.

OVERLAND PARK, KS, USA (November 5, 2012)The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) www.acbsp.org will have 12 teams competing in the Global Management Challenge USA, which begins Jan. 18. The Global Management Challenge is the largest strategy and management simulation competition in the world.Fortune Magazine recently ran a two-page article featuring the Challenge in the USA.

The Global Management Challenge USA is a strategic management simulation competition that began last year. It is online and based around a virtual environment with its own market and shares. The teams manage their own company, and the company with the highest shares wins. This competition teaches real world business tactics and decision-making in a virtual environment.

There are four stages of the Global Management Challenge. Round 1 (Jan. 18-Feb. 7) and Round 2 (Feb. 11-March 4) are both online. The eight winning teams from Round 2 proceed to New York City on March 25 and 26 for the National Final, sponsored by the New York Stock Exchange. Then the national finalist will go on to represent the USA at the International Final in Bucharest, Romania, April 16-18.

ACBSP member schools are in the process of forming teams now. The 12 teams that make up TEAM ACBSP will be among 150-200 teams competing in the 2013 Global Management Challenge USA. Contestants in the Challenge will include students, faculty, and business people. Each team will be comprised of between three and five individuals from among those groups.

"Global Management Challenge brings together students, business schools, and corporations in a unique learning experience,” said Mr. Douglas Viehland, ACBSP Executive Director. "When they graduate, they will have to compete and cooperate at the same time to be successful. This is what is required to be successful in this competition. That is why we are pleased to endorse this learning experience.”

This opportunity for ACBSP is topped off by the fact that Global Management Challenge USA recently joined ACBSP and is a valued partner. "We’re thrilled about our alliance with ACBSP and look forward to working collaboratively to promote excellence in business education,” said Zohra Zori, President of Global Management Challenge USA. "ACBSP’s vast network of academic institutions provides the Global Management Challenge an even stronger platform for utilizing experiential learning as a key tool to improve skills and knowledge beyond the four walls of the classroom. Our hope is to have every ACBSP-accredited institution involved with the challenge.”
